When the feelings
start to build
You’ve been overly emotional lately. You’re distracted by your thoughts and by feelings of sadness or anxiety and it’s starting to feel unbearable. You are usually a happy-go-lucky person, someone who goes with the flow, but now you’re not feeling like yourself at all. You’re overwhelmed with considering the needs of others and feel you are breaking down emotionally. You do not like feeling like you’re not in control and on top of this, you’re worried that your feelings will further damage your relationships. You find that you’re judging yourself more, maybe even thinking you’re weak. You can't stop overthinking about mistakes you’ve made, why you are not better at figuring people (and yourself) out, and question whether you are able to get yourself together and be the person you want to be. You give so much to people and treat others how you want to be treated, but sometimes you aren't treated the same. You’re often left for last, while carrying someone else’s load. You’re on an emotional rollercoaster and wondering why you keep ending up in the position of caring more about others than you do yourself.
My approach
to helping you
I know it’s not easy to trust and that perhaps sharing personal details about your life makes you feel uneasy. The mental health stigma in some of our communities is real so I join this journey with you from a place of humility and patience. You decide where we go and together, we will build trust. It’s important to me that you feel validated and that you experience hope that things can get better, that you can feel better. Over the past 14 years, I’ve worked with many people experiencing anxiety, worry, and depression, manifested in many ways, and have seen clients succeed in feeling more in control and less in emotional crisis. They’ve learned about themselves and have gained insights around their culture and upbringing. I will help you make connections between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy strategies that you can utilize in your everyday life. After just a few sessions, you will feel lighter and less burdened by your emotions. This is the power of therapy and of taking time to focus on you and your needs!
You’re ready for real change. I’m here to help
I help people who are often exhausted from working hard and attending to others’ needs, develop the skills and insight needed to manage, accept, and express their emotions so that they no longer feel controlled by them. As a therapist of color, I understand deeply how both societal pressures and cultural influences play a role in how you show up for people (and yourself) and that there’s both beauty and pain in this. In therapy, I help clients see themselves more clearly and step into their power so that they can release the pain associated with feeling like they are inherently damaged.
